The Cabo Verde game was so exciting even my MOTHER was riveted (hates sports, loves an underdog tale). The announcer said at the end “ I don’t care what the scoreboard says, Cape Verde are the winners today” 😭
I’m surprised you haven’t mentioned that Alexi Lalas seems to have been banished from the main desk with Zlatan and Thierry Henry and placed on a desk with all former US players where he remains the least impressive.
The Argentina vs Cabo Verde game almost gave me a heart attack as an Argentina fan but fair play to Cabo Verde for how they played. I went into the game nervous as I have previously watched them and it was very much justified. I also love that it shows not to sleep on the African nations who don’t get the respect they deserve.
Agreed that folks shouldn’t sleep on Colombia either.
Our likes and loves are constantly challenged by realities, as I am just up on Wed morning in HK, having watched the AMAZING Argentina-Egypt game that ended at 2a here, and too sleepy to stay up for Switz-Egypt that means an Arg-Sui match early Saturday morning (3a locally). I feel for your passions, Clara, for your earnest words are too quickly the stuff of yesterday, and the recalibrations of your ⚽️-sized heart are wayyyyy too persistent for your sanity at WC’s end. 😂
