And the thing is, Ms. Rachel has never - so far as I can tell - even said the word Israel! She's not advocating for sanctions or protests or "from the river to the sea." She's just saying "please stop bombing and starving these children, they have a right to a happy and peaceful childhood." And EVEN THAT is too much for some people. EVEN THAT is a sign that she's a crypto-Hamas terrorist. The mind boggles.
'I am famously an adult' really had me laughing. We love Ms Rachel - it's good to know someone who is entertaining the next generation has such moral clarity. May it influence them as adults in the best way possible.
Agree with all of this! Another point that hasn't gotten much attention: after the RFK autism nonsense, Ms. Rachel was the only public person I know of who acknowledged that his hateful and inaccurate comments (people with autism cannot date/work/etc.) were of course completely false, but was also sure to mention that yes some people with autism may not in fact go on to work or date, and they are still as whole and valuable as anyone else. It's a nuance that was probably lost on most, but near and dear for my family. xx
My kids never watched Ms. Rachel but I love to follow her and am very impressed by her advocacy. And I fully admit to watching Bluey when my kids aren’t around too!
I sent Ms Rachel's words to my Senators, both of whom like Cory Booker, have received hundreds of thousands of dollars from AIPAC, and vote more with Trump than with the progressive Dems in their party. And in particular to their response to my numerous emails & calls parroting AIPAC's talking points. Ms Rachel phrases things in such a straightforward, heart-full way it's impossible not to be moved (and if you're a feckless leader ashamed).
I, too, have no children and currently have no plans to change that, so her life's work (which I am sure is WONDERFUL) is irrelevant to me, but I will FIGHT for Ms Rachel. To the end. Every time I read a caption of hers, I am that Meryl Streep clapping at an awards show GIF at every. single. line. It is frankly to wonderful and powerful to see her use her platform in unequivocal, unabashed support of those who need it the most, even if it might risk her livelihood. It is appalling but disgustingly unsurprising that many more powerful and influential than her have chosen to stay silent for whatever reason.
Dang. I’ve been feeling so frozen by grief- I was just telling some friends about this- and this article and her framing is really helpful. Thank you for writing this.

I will not try to sway you about children one way or the other but I will STRONGLY recommend that you watch Bluey.

I love Ms. Rachel and I’ve never seen a single in show clip of hers. But yes, the moral clarity.
👏👏👏
Literally watching Ms. Rachel with my nieces as I read this 😂

Wait, why hate on Corey Booker? He's the real deal to me. He actually goes out on the streets of Newark to save kittens and puppies in cold weather.
