In the same vein as the lobotomy line, the first song they show us him having written in this era is one where he was given the title “Born in the USA” and he made it about how the military industrial complex irrevocably ruined a generation of Americans and massacred a nation we had no business being in. But then a song about a serial killer is when everyone is “whoa wait this guy is feeling some feelings?”
boardwalk empire fan club rise up!!! yeah, the film was really able to capture very specific nostalgic new jersey vibes in a way that actually made me weep a few times in the theater! asbury park forever! shitty nj suburbs and driving around!!!! beautiful!!!!!
I also witnessed Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere (one cannot watch this film, one must bear witness). You had me at: 'wearing brown contacts and cunty little leather jackets'. I now can't stop thinking about it, and have taken to walking through the nearest high-rise estate (inner-city Scotland: many to choose from) listening to Nebraska on headphones. I confess at one point I thought 'Get over it Jeremy, I mean Bruce'. But then I thought about him laying on that brown swirly carpet listening to Suicide and I did repent.
Oh yes my household was absolutely more Phil Collins oriented! I love a drum solo. But I also love leather jackets. My favorite Springsteen song is Sad Eyes from 1998 because it was on Dawson’s Creek. This made me want to go to New Jersey!
I was already shushing away the critics reporting mediocrity, and now I am even more jazzed to see it. This affective takeaway is really everything I could hope for (and more)!

As a Jersey girl, now I must see this movie. Is your 2014 picture of Haddonfield? I must know!
It SURE is!
